Prospectors

{EAV:a1a3cc91e92c524e}

I know I have talked to more than one or two people in the last few years that thought I was crazy for my love of gems and minerals. When I would tell people I had spent the summer in Alama with my husband and my father-in-law working on a mine, they would look at me like “Uh, Mines still exist?”  Or maybe you stumbled upon this blog and thought “This lady is crazy!”- In which case I am, but that’s another story.  Well rest assured I am not the only crazy one, Prospectors follows a rag-tag gang of miners searching for the rarest gems in the U.S. in order to strike it rich.  Amanda Adkins, Dorris Family, Rich Fretterd, Steve Brancato and The Busse Family have all teamed together to share their life experiences and hopefully shed some light into vast world of gems and minerals. It Airs TONIGHT, Tuesday at 9pm EST March 26, 2013 on the Weather Channel.  See what it’s like to have a lightning storm right above your head, live though the thrill and excitement with the rest of us without the urrrm … dangers.

Lions, Tigers and ... Dinosaurs!?

This is the first post of the Tucson virtual tour! The last few days have of course been crazy running around to shows, meeting up with clients . This is just a small update of day 1 out at the shows so let's get into it ... today we made our first round at the Inn suites and here are some pictures of a few awesome dinosaur  replicas made out of resin and one random photo of a enormous orange that fell from one of the many beautiful orange trees at the show. We will be back at this show tomorrow and the River Side Park Inn show cruising the rest of the rooms in search of more goodies, so for now enjoy a throwback into the Jurassic period , and stay posted for more photos and fun stories in the Tucson virtual tour.

I was standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona....

  It comes down to this... T-8 days till we leave on a 14 hour drive to one of the biggest gem shows in the world. Warm and sunny Tucson, Arizona. We will be down there from Jan. 29th till about Feb. 18th. This is such a crazy time for us jumping from the holidays straight into the Tucson show. We pretty much move our whole world for 3 weeks, clothes ( of course I pack more than I should ), the facetor, our whole inventory, and the list goes on and on. And why is it that my " to-do" list seems to be getting longer and longer even though I'm marking things off? Oh but I really can't complain, we get to go be in what will hopefully be warm weather, see amazing old friends, meet new friends, and eat some amazing food. It's a lot of hard work getting to and through Tucson so we make the most of it.

  I was thinking of doing a blog about every few days while we are down there. Just a quick post and some photos to show you guys that can't make it, what we are up to and show you what new goodies we find. Like a virtual Tucson tour!

  Our schedule is of course packed full of dinners, meetings, events, setting up at two shows, and trying to get around to all the other shows. Now, I know some of you know what I am talking about, others have a idea but have never been and the rest barly know what I am talking about."The Tucson Gem show" isn't just one show. Approximately 4, 500 vendors show at over 50 different locations all over Tucson. And for us rock and gem lovers, we are in heaven. Here is a link with some more fun facts about the Tucson Gem show.  http://tucsongemandmineralshows.net/
Wish us luck and stay posted for the Virtual Tucson Tour

Do I here Jingle Bells?

 Wow, what a crazy year this has been. This year has seems like it has flown by much faster than the past years I where I have said that.  The Holidays can get pretty hectic for us, as I assume they do for most people.  We try and enjoy the holidays with family and friends but it can get hard with 2013 upon us as well as the 2013 Tucson Gem and Mineral show, our biggest show of the year. We go to Tucson for nearly a month and in that time we do most of our gem rough and supply shopping for the year and set up at two shows! With the upcoming Tucson shows, we have to make sure to not lose our focus!   I could go on a bore you with all the fussy details, but that’s my job, your job is to just sit back and enjoy the beauty of our work.  Tucson is amazing though, all the hustle and bustle, it’s really quite exciting. We love being able to come back from the shows and share all the goodies we acquire.

 Have you seen the new Opal Gemstone update?! If not, you should really take a minute or two to have a peek. I love Opal it is truly a phenomenal gem, the colors just mesmerize you. Here is a great article if you would like to read a little more on Ethiopian Opals.

  I hope this finds you enjoying the Holidays with your loved ones next to a nice warm fire with a cup of hot coco. If not, well we can at least dream right?

Much love to everyone from our shop to your home.

Happy Holidays,
Allyce and Brett.
